One of the questions I get asked most is how I stay healthy while traveling without missing out on the joy of it.

The honest answer? It’s not about restrictions or extremes, it’s about consistent foundations for balance. This is how I eat when I travel to feel my best, support energy and mood, plus keep my blood sugar stable.*

Protein first, always

I build every meal around protein, especially at breakfast. Think eggs with avo on toast, or yogurt with seeds and berries.

Don’t skip fiber at breakfast

Ground flaxseed or a seed mix is a non-negotiable for me. It makes such a difference to blood sugar balance and digestion.

If I can, I’ll pack my own, otherwise I’ll pick some up when I arrive and add it to yogurt or oats.

JSHealth rule for coffee

1-2 coffees per day, before midday. This is key for supporting my cortisol rhythm and sleep.

Hydration support

Electrolytes are a daily essential when I’m traveling. I add our Hydrate+ to my water each morning and sip throughout the day, and I always keep a sachet in my carry-on when flying.

Build balanced meals

For lunch and dinner, I focus on: Protein, vegetables, and slow-release carbohydrates. Think a nourishing stir-fry with brown rice, or protein with sweet potato.

Be prepared

I always have a protein bar or a handful of nuts in my bag. This helps prevent energy crashes and sugar cravings.

Movement matters

Especially on holidays, even a simple walk after dinner supports glucose metabolism. It also helps to keep things moving and prevent constipation.

I aim for 30–40 minutes each day. It’s also one of my favorite ways to explore somewhere new.

Support when needed

Berberine+ is something I lean on when traveling. I find it really supports balanced blood sugar.

Enjoy the indulgence

Yes to wine. Yes to dessert. I just keep it mindful, while staying consistent with my foundations. 1-2 glasses of wine, a gelato most days. I am kind to myself, always. Let go of the guilt.

This is your reminder: You don’t need extremes. You need consistency.

With love,

Jess xx
